Two stories in one thread, the first being how I almost died having fun on a back road and the other, on how a stupid bitch almost made get into an accident with her and flipped me off, the bitch.
Story 1
Last night I was out with car friends hooning around some new areas to me. One of which was a neat dirt road hidden off in the middle of nowhere. There's only one major bend on the entire stretch of road and it was bumpy and full of fake rally fun! So, we decided to end our hoontastic evening going around that road. It was midnight and it had begun to rain a lot when we got to the road, but that didn't phase us at all.
The first time we went down the road, we did so slowly, so that the people that didn't know the road(me and two others) could "learn" it quickly before we sped through it on the way back. Going through it was pretty simple and straightforward even if it was pretty much pitch black with the dense trees covering the overhead sky, so when we were all ready, we set off in one minute intervals. I was second to last in line and decided to wait an extra two minutes for everyone in front to go; just to be safe.
At that moment I put the FoST in sport mode and head off through the road maintaining a constant speed of 40mph. I can feel the car sliding a bit here and there but it was easily mitigated with steady hands on the wheel. I was very confident going through there, that I sped up to about 50mph; right before that one big bend that I forgot was coming up. Going through it the first time, heading towards the bend, it was very easy to see ahead of time, it was a minor hill climb and slight right; going backwards, it was downhill and a sharp left that couldn't be seen until right at the turn.
Now, this is where the near death moment happens. If you remember my first story with the FoST, I damn near killed myself taking a corner on the freeway at 130mph on day 3 of ownership because I was a noob and slammed on the brakes going around the corner; in this case, I was a little smarter. I took my foot off the gas as I slid around the corner gave it some gas so as to keep traction on the wet dirt road. All was well, until I was exiting the bend and gave it too much gas and applied some(too much) oppo. The rear end came out, and I spun 'round between 45-90 degrees to the right and almost went off into the trees on the side; I had just stopped in front of them. Took about 10 seconds to get it together and get back on the track. The last stretch was a straight line and I sped up through there getting up to at 80 at the "finish line". Fortunately, no one say this happen so no one will ever know what happened in that group(but now you all now).
Not sure what I learned here, maybe not to rally in rainy, dark weather at night? Or know when to apply the right amount of oppo and throttle? Well, I'll figure it out! Needless to say, my car was hella dirty in the morning.
Story 2
I was leaving for work this morning. I live in a neighborhood off of a fairly busy road with traffic coming both ways constantly because the exit of my neighborhood is in between two traffic lights. In the picture above, I'm the blue diamond sitting at the exit waiting to turn left; some bitch in a Scion Xd is the next car passing me heading left, I'm thinking that I'll turn right after her and be on my way, but no. She turns into my neighborhood; but this is how she did it.
There's a good and bad way to do this. If you follow the red path, you wait to turn until you get right parallel with the street(which is a boulevard by the way) and turn in, but what she did was follow the green path(albeit much closer to me than I depicted in the picture) and cut early as I was inching up a little and damn near sideswiping me!! She also didn't use her damn turn signals turning in either. Then she has the nerve to honk her horn, flip me off and mouth "what the fuck!". Now I was about to apologize, but then I realized that I have no remorse for sheer stupidity and went on my way; I did apologize to my FoST for putting her in that situation.
The lesson here, don't be like this person and use your damn turn signals.
So yeah.

Yeah....I kinda did that. I slid around through three lanes trying to keep it together. Never doing that again.

I found a couple of Rallycrosses that are happening close by in about a month, this wants to make me go to them even more.
Unlike your car, my car has zero underbody protection.
Fuck it, YOLO
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:04 |
|
You have zero underbody protection?? How??
You're fucked in the winter bro. JK. :P
But get some mudflaps.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:05 |

Too lazy. Just gonna see what happens.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:18 |
|
Wouldn't it be funny if you're car started to rust out this year? ;)
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:20 |
|
It's a good thing I don't plan on keeping it long enough for that to matter!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:21 |
|
How long is that?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:22 |
|
Your second story is similar to what happened to me the other day. Similar road, except I was just coming up on a hill. This girl who drives an Aveo cuts it way to close and almost hit me head on. She's not a good driver at all. Scares me quite a bit. Well, the good news is you and the Focus are ok.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:23 |

Like 3 years max
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:28 |

Thanks. Are you and Mach 1 alright?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:34 |

Perfect time for me to buy it off you!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 14:55 |
|
I'm glad you didn't died!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:02 |
|
Me too! :)
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:04 |
|
good job not dying :D
I nearly died in the 997 once. Mad oversteer, yo
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:04 |
|
Yes, it was actually the day I finally got it back to. Thought there was a problem but it runs fine now. Maybe bad fuel.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:05 |
|
But dat FWD understeer tho...
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:07 |
|
Could be.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:07 |
|
they are both scary! I'm more scared of understeer tho
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:08 |
|
I like understeer.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:09 |
|
:O why?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:11 |
|
Cool, I sat in a 356 today.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:12 |
|
Because Drift bro!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:12 |
|
Nice! You have pics? And I going with carbs now.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:13 |
|
Trust me when I say you're not gonna want my Fiesta when I'm done with it. I will have done at least 15 autocrosses, maybe 3 rallycrosses, and one track day by the end of this year alone.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:15 |
|
Yes but I look like an un-handsome asshole so you may not see them. Carbs for 911 or stang? Oh and I saw a MINT fox body yesterday.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:16 |
|
Carbs for the Fox. Mustang forum said so, given my situation.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:18 |
|
Nice Holleys I hope.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:19 |
|
Whatever I can afford. :)
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:20 |
|
Try to find a used Holley Dominator off craigslist.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:21 |
|
What's a Dominator?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:23 |
|
Haha that's scary drift!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:25 |
|
Badass drift!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:32 |
|
Holley's biggest carb I believe it is 750CFM.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:33 |
|
What is CFM?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:35 |
|
Cubic feet of air sucked into the engine per minute. Cubic feet per Minute.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:38 |
|
Old timey math and science.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:41 |
|
Yeah. If you are doing a complete build up on the motor you will want that carb.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:48 |
|
I'm loosing it again. I don't know which motor I want to start with again. :(

http://saginaw.craigslist.org/pts/4624248529…
WHAT SHOULD I DO?????
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:55 |
|
Fuck it, I'm going with the short block and building it up!!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:58 |
|
For $25 You get a lot more and you could sell that 2 barrel intake for a 4 barrel. And I think it looks like a better base for a build but I would get new rockers and other things. Basically buy the one for $175 and build everything in it and sell or keep the extras.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 15:59 |
|
NOOOOOOOO Fuck that!!!!!!!!!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:03 |
|
So buy the 302 with 289 heads then?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:04 |
|
Yes. But buy a 4bl intake for it. Also what Tranny you gonna run?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:05 |
|
I have no idea. The best one I can find/afford?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:08 |
|
Tremec?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:10 |
|
T5?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:14 |
|
That is what I was thinking.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:20 |
|
Nice. I got a friend that might be able to help me get that motor on Friday.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:22 |
|
So it'll be worth $3. Awesome. If I go to that autox near Syracuse you have to let me drive it in a relatively empty parking lot.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:22 |
|
The one with the 289 heads?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:24 |
|
Yeah.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:26 |
|
Good, Does your Dad know about the Boss project?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:27 |
|
But of course!
And whoever I sell it to won't know what an awesome life it lead, and will give me more than $3.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:29 |
|
See I'll try not to destroy your clutch. With my whole knowledge of manual being in a parked car at the State Fair.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:29 |
|
HELL NO!!
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:30 |
|
Because YOLO
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:32 |
|
I would sit there for hours in a Cruz's pretending I was a race car driver. It was fun.
Do you know if spectating that is free?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:35 |
|
I have zero idea.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:38 |
|
Guess we will find out the 20th.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:39 |
|
Guess we find out on the 20th.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:41 |
|
It's 2.5 hours away from me, so it'll be around a 20 hour day. They're holding two events back-to-back on that day. One day event, and one night event.
I'm attending both.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:43 |
|
What time is it. (Too lazy to look)
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:44 |
|
Why not?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:47 |
|
Because it's a surprise! If I tell him, then the shock and awe is lost.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:48 |
|
Where are you storing the motor?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:49 |
|
And that's the only flaw in my plan. I'm working on that as we speak.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:51 |
|
One day I want to buy an Eclipse for my Dad. He always wanted one but bought a practical Grand Prix instead. I want to buy one and fix it up so it is like new and give it to him. That is a long way down the road though.
Could a friend hold the motor for you?
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:56 |
|
Your computer doesn't have a clock? 4:56.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:57 |
|
Maybe. I'm asking around, if not, it's going in my dorm room, on the 7th floor of my dorm.......somehow...... -_-
![]() 08/31/2014 at 16:59 |
|
Thats not what I meant. Thanks though. What time is the AutoX on the 20th? The first one.
Also my phone is at like 3% so this conversation might end soon. Unless I can find a charger.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:02 |
|
Throw it up through the window.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:03 |
|
The first one starts at around 10am, but people have to register by around 8:30.
The second one ends at around 10pm.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:04 |
|
Found a potential solution. :)
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:05 |
|
As I have no car I'll try to get there around 9-930
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:15 |
|
awww yisss
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:19 |
|
you going to be the whole day? If you're gonna be around I can try to show you the area.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:27 |
|
Yeah, but I'll be there the whole day, they might give us like 20 minutes for lunch but that doesn't seem like much time.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:31 |
|
No not really. I don't know what's close to it.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:43 |
|
I guess I'll have to bring something then.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:45 |
|
Knowing the area there's most likely a McD's like 5 minutes from it.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:45 |
|
MMMMMMMM
I like McDonalds.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:48 |
|
Can I have the location again. I'll Google maps to see what's around it.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:49 |
|
https://www.google.com/maps/place/493…
![]() 08/31/2014 at 17:55 |

Lol there is a McDonalds exactly 5 minutes east of it.
![]() 08/31/2014 at 18:31 |

here in France ,we have same issues :
People don't use turn signal ,and bigger is the car, dumber the driver is
So save our lives (and our cars) just with these f.....g turn signals
![]() 08/31/2014 at 18:36 |
|
Yes exactly, it only takes a second and can save so many lives and money!
![]() 09/01/2014 at 02:47 |
|
oh man! rough day bro! I'm sorry!
If it makes you feel better, I almost understered Lil'Red in to a curb on day 3 of ownership.
![]() 09/01/2014 at 02:59 |
|
Lil'Red noo! :o
![]() 09/01/2014 at 03:03 |
|
yeah it was close.
Lesson learned: don't take 90* turns at 50mph in the wet
![]() 09/01/2014 at 03:06 |
|
Oh lawd. Looks like you got a story to share with us now.
![]() 09/01/2014 at 03:14 |
|
i'll share it with you...
So, day 3 of owning Lil' Red... I was up in a town called north bend, and decided to take the fun, twisty road home! as I get on the road, an F25o towing a camper decided to LOLNOPE any fun on the trip, and I'm stuck going 25 on a twisty 35 road behind this fucker. So, we get to the actual town of North bend, and I decide to use the street parallel to the main street to overtake him. I quickly dip right, and then scream left on the street that's parallel to main street. I'm doing 50, blowing down the road and I realize there's construction up ahead. So, I turn left, and I just hear my tires screech as I slide my way towards the curb. I slam the car in second from third, rev all the way to redline and somehow manage to pull the understeery left off, leaving a huge cloud of tire smoke behind me. I then dip back on to main St. JUST in front of the truck with the camper! It was successful, but I damn near shat my pants. since then, I have learned how to shift the car's weight for performance driving in places and situations like these
![]() 09/01/2014 at 03:17 |

That's awesome! Now just copy and paste and make a thread for it in the morning. Oppo likes these stories I assume. As one person told me, you learn best from near death experiences. ;)
